Item 8.01 Other Events.
On July 1, 2005, Career Education Corporation (the “Registrant”) issued a press release to announce that Brooks College’s accrediting commission, the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, has reaffirmed the college’s accreditation at its campuses in Long Beach and Sunnyvale, California and has removed the campuses from probation. A copy of the Registrant’s press release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1, and the information contained therein is incorporated herein by reference. The information contained in this Form 8-K, including the exhibit, shall not be deemed “filed” for purposes of Section 18 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, as amended, and it shall not be deemed incorporated by reference into any filing under the Securities Act of 1933, as amended, except as shall be expressly set forth by specific reference in such filing.
