Item 8.01 Other Events.
 
On November 16, 2009, International Coal Group, Inc. (the “Company”) issued a press release announcing that the Company has reached a settlement with the Kentucky Waterways Alliance and The Sierra Club in connection with a lawsuit over the Clean Water Act Section 404 permit that was granted by the Army Corps of Engineers in 2008 to ICG Hazard’s Thunder Ridge surface mine in Leslie County, Kentucky. A copy of the Company’s press release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1.
