PRLog - Jan. 6, 2014 - NORTHVILLE, Mich. -- Driver Buddy is a completely new mobile telematics and operations platform that allows companies to dispatch their drivers, track their assets and connect their field personnel to the home office.  The Driver Buddy platform is a Fleet Management system with full Order Dispatch and GPS tracking capabilities coupled with CRM, Workflow and Document Management modules.  In addition to these core modules Driver Buddy provides subscribers the ability to capture documents electronically in the field, run an industry leading e-auction and e-sourcing platform and allow customers visibility to orders via an integrated customer portal all from the same screen.

From the CEO, Ray Lark: "The reason we are excited about the launch of Driver Buddy is that this platform was designed and developed by operations professionals for operations professionals.  We felt strongly that companies were demanding a comprehensive platform that worked when and where they worked...from anywhere at any time."

Driver Buddy was founded by Ray Lark and Shawn Ryan, who have over 30 years of experience bringing new technology to their operations in ways that redefine the status quo.  The motivating force behind the creation of Driver Buddy came while Ryan and Lark were managing a 180 truck fleet at a National Petroleum Distributor.  After implementing a number of different fleet management solutions the team found that there were just too many gaps in the offerings to meet the needs of the average company.

From Ryan, “Dispatchers on our team would have three or more applications open at any time just to answer the simple question of where are your drivers. Additionally the constant stream of hardware expense was putting too much pressure on the bottom line.  It just wasn’t being offset by the cost savings from the software because the software could not handle the entire process.”

The Driver Buddy team surveyed the industry and reviewed the directions of all the existing hardware solutions in the marketplace.  To create a truly new way for companies to implement not only a Telematics system but also an end to end Operations Platform the team had to look to different in cab hardware solutions.  The decision to base the platform on the relatively new smartphone was born from their experience responding to Hurricane Sandy on the East Coast.  During the event Ryan dispatched the fuel response of over 250 trucks using nothing more than an iPhone “If the iPhone had the reliability and the processing capability to allow me to manage hundreds of trucks in a disaster zone then it was clear to me the device was ready to take over in cab operations.”

Smartphones alone were not enough to build the new Driver Buddy Platform.  From Ryan “While the smartphones provided a more powerful solution for the users in the field, we had to create an operations platform that would be flexible enough to work the way our customers work in the back office.”  The Driver Buddy team achieved this by building their app on a proprietary Enterprise Level Data Structure that supports the business process from Order to Cash.  “We could have taken the easy way out,” Ryan continued “but we knew that if we were going to bring the most value to our customers, the solution had to be able to adapt on the fly to the way that customers use the system.”  The investment up front has paid off in a robust platform that is able to flex to meet the needs of transportation, service and blended companies both small and large.

The smartphone and back end systems have been leveraged to build a true order to cash operations platform within Driver Buddy.  “From the moment an order is received by your customer service team, to when payment is received from your customer, the Driver Buddy system provides visibility.” said Ryan.  “it doesn’t matter if your team consists of one person at the kitchen table or a fifty person call center in Omaha.  The Driver Buddy system grows with you and provides the same benefits regardless of your size.”  Once complete all orders, documents and notes are stored in the Driver Buddy Cloud for up to 7 years and available for download by subscribers at any time.

The Driver Buddy platform is currently available in 4 subscription levels; Lite, Standard, Pro and Enterprise.  Subscribers are free to upgrade and downgrade at any time with no penalty and all subscriptions are month to month.  In many cases setup and training are complete the same day subscribers sign up, with benefits being realized immediately. “We are confident there is nothing out there that competes with Driver Buddy on features, price and ease of use.” said Lark.  “When you provide a solution that works the way operations folks work it is a powerful offering.”
