Design Australia USA uses new multi-level format for launching Australian brands
LOS ANGELES - Oct. 5, 2015 - PRLog -- Design Australia USA brings a two-month innovative market introduction format to its third season, as it presents ten Australian brands during New York Fashion Week and Los Angeles Fashion Week. The two-month, bi-coastal launch event combines press and media fashion presentations, wholesale buyer showings during the Coterie and Los Angeles Market Weeks, and consumer pop-up sales.

The NYFW fashion presentation, hosted by Bene Rialto and fashion blogger Juanita Londono, and attended by over 60 stylists and bloggers, including Australian Consul-General Nick Minchin, featured a selection of styles from the ten brands, including rising star brand Zhivago, whose designs have been recently worn by Katie Perry, Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, and other top celebrities. Over 60 bloggers, stylists, and fashion influencers sipped Australian wine and snacked on Kangaroo bites and appetizers from the Australian, New York’s headquarters for Australian food and sports, while previewing selected styles from Spring 2016 collections.

The brands featured in the Design Australia USA showcase featured four evening-wear brands -- Zhivago, Elle Zeitoune, Jomay Cao, and Steph Audino – and six women’s contemporary brands: Pelle d’Arte, House of Skye, Cococabana, Black the Label, The Shanti Butterfly, and Magdalena Duma. The two-week New York event was hosted by Bene Rialto, whose five-floor innovative retail, showroom, and educational platform provides an excellent launching pad for new and emerging brands, in the heart of New York’s fashion district.

The Australian Consul-General and his wife who attended the fashion presentation voiced their strong support for Australian fashion brands’ market expansion into the US. "This model for introducing a group of new brands to the US market has been successful, and is one of the most cost-effective ways for new brands to enter a new market," says Katya Ellis of Styleway, founder and partner of Design Australia USA.

The Australian brands featured in the showcase received a favorable buyer and media rsponse. Many of the participating brands from the previous season’s Australian Designer Showcase have been picked up by US retailers, including Revolve, Nasty Gal, Kitson, as well as other specialty stores.

The Australian brands travel to Los Angeles after New York Market, for media and buyer presentations during Los Angeles Fashion Week and ensuing Wholesale Market. Zhivago will be unveiling their Spring 2016 collection during Los Angeles Fashion Week, at a runway show sponsored by G’Day USA.

"By featuring a group of brands, and combining blogger and media introductions with buyer presentations during two major markets, we can ensure maximum exposure for new brands, at various levels," says Eveline Morel of Emblem Showroom, US partner and event co-producer. "Expensive trade show costs increase the risk for new brands looking to enter the US: oftentimes, they don’t have the market knowledge and contacts, so it’s hard to recoup costs. This new model allows brands to get their feet wet without drowning."

Design Australia USA, a co-production of Emblem Showroom and Australian fashion marketing event producer, Styleway Group, combines a three-prong approach for launching new brands: press and media exposure, retail buyer introductions and wholesale market participation, and consumer exposure through social media and pop-up shops. The two-month event provides designers with all the necessary guidance and support for successfully launching their brands in the U.S. Market.
