Tinkle Family Racing perseveres through season of ups and downs to clinch the championship
PARK RIDGE, Ill. - Aug. 11, 2016 - PRLog -- The season started out with Zachary Tinkle and another driver neck and neck for the title. Just when he thought he was going to have a breakthrough as the lead car in a race in July, he was wrecked by one car on the track when the white flag was about to drop. He was then struck on the other side by another car, but managed to turn around and take third place. He remained even in championship points, but had a car that needed work to get it back on the track.

The following week, he went down by one point when he was at the track without his crew chief and dad, Brad Tinkle. The car was a bit slow and, unfortunately, he had to simply make it through the races as best he could. The next weeks proved to be a turning point. Going into the last race of the season, Tinkle was in a good place, but not a guaranteed championship with a five-point lead.

Zachary was focused and determined to stay ahead of his opponent on championship night. He qualified one spot ahead. He then went on to finish two spots ahead in the heat race. Going into the final feature race, he was eight points ahead and needed to make at least a 5th place finish to secure the championship, which he did.

When asked how it feels to win the Wild Wednesday Super Cup Championship at NASCAR® Hometrack Rockford Speedway, Zachary replied, "I can't tell you how much winning a championship at Rockford Speedway means to me. When I started stock car racing, I was told, 'If you can learn this track, you can learn any track.' So, I made it my goal to figure out this track and to clinch this championship. This season wasn't without its ups and downs, but we kept on 'keeping on' and we did it!"

He went on to say, "I'd like to thank my sponsors for being so supportive. Plus, I need to recognize my crew chief and dad for learning so much about the car and keeping me on the track every week. You know, when we started out, my dad didn't even change oil in our own car. He's had a lot to figure out the past couple years. If it weren't for his commitment to the mechanics of the car and my mom's commitment to market and support me, I wouldn't be a champion today."
