Curt Brown Receives RMEL's Industry Leadership Award

October 6, 2020 /3BL Media/ - Curt Brown, Associate Vice President and Central Region Director - Power Gen Services, Black & Veatch, was announced as a recipient of RMEL’s 2020 Industry Leadership Award during RMEL’s 117th Annual Virtual Fall Executive Leadership and Management Convention on Tuesday, September 29th.

The Industry Leadership Award recognizes an individual whose leadership has made contributions that have made an impact within their organization. Recipients usually have more than 10 years of experience in the industry. These individuals are often active in various industry affiliations, associations and/or organizations that serve the electric energy industry.

Brown has worked in conventional power generation at Black & Veatch for 27 years, with a strong emphasis on retrofits and improving existing facilities. He is an Associate Vice President currently serving as Project Director in the Central and Western U.S. regions with responsibility for development of regional strategy, project development, and project execution.  He has served on the RMEL Generation committee for more than 10 years, and is currently the Committee Chair.  He is grateful for the opportunities RMEL has provided, and is committed to providing its members with relevant and interesting information that will help them in their daily work. 

RMEL also awarded the Distinguished Leadership Award to Kelly Harrison, Former VP, Transmission, Evergy and the Honorary Life Membership Award to Dan Schmidt, former Sr. Vice President, Power Generation Services, Black & Veatch, and Industry Leadership Awards to William R. (Bill) Alkema, Senior Director, Baseload Generation, Salt River Project, Christine Henry, Sierra Nevada Region’s (SNR) System Operations and Control Supervisor for Power Systems Dispatch, Western Area Power Administration, William Johnson, General Manager, Kansas City Board of Public Utilities, Sarah LaBarre, Manager, Engineering Design, Colorado Springs Utilities, and Ruth Marks, Sr. Manager, Transmission Maintenance, Tri-State Generation & Transmission Association.
