Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Hawks Quindel, S.C. shareholder Summer Murshid is featured among Milwaukee Magazine’s 2026 Women of Distinction, published in the magazine’s November 2026 issue.

Murshid leads the firm’s Milwaukee employment law team. She represents employees in cases involving discrimination, retaliation and wage-and-hour violations, often against employers with far more resources than the workers bringing the claims.

Her path to Hawks Quindel started with a setback. As she prepared to graduate from Georgetown University Law Center during the 2008 financial crisis, a job offer was rescinded. That led her to an opening at Hawks Quindel, where she has built her career and later became a shareholder.

“I got the job,” Murshid told Milwaukee Magazine. “Now I can’t imagine doing anything else.”

Murshid moved to Sheboygan from Las Vegas and came back to Wisconsin after law school. She earned her bachelor’s degrees in economics and criminal justice from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Outside her caseload, Murshid is active in the legal community and in Milwaukee. She was recently appointed to a three-year term on the board of the National Employment Lawyers Association. She also serves on the board of the Milwaukee Diaper Mission and volunteers with the Volunteer Lawyers Project and Wills for Heroes.

Much of her focus now is on the next generation of lawyers who represent workers. In the feature, she credits the attorneys who mentored her early in her career.

“I love the law, but what keeps me doing this work is the people,” Murshid said. “So many great lawyers invested in me. Now it’s my turn to do the same.”

Murshid is also a full-time working mother of three, something she speaks about openly in the profile.

Workers in Wisconsin who are dealing with discrimination, retaliation or unpaid wages can contact Hawks Quindel, S.C. for a free case screening after intake review.
