The highly anticipated list comes out every four years.
AUSTIN, TX / ACCESS Newswire / May 28, 2025 / Texas Monthly released its highly anticipated Top 50 BBQ list Tuesday. It comes out every four years and recognizes the joints serving the best smoked meats, sides, and more in Texas. The list is considered by many barbecue aficionados to be the definitive guide to the state's most recognizable cuisine, putting new restaurants on the map and drawing visitors to Texas from across the globe.
For the 2025 edition, dozens of taste tasters, including Texas Monthly barbecue editor Daniel Vaughn, traveled thousands of miles and visited more than three hundred joints across the state. After reviewing the barbecue restaurants' scores, Vaughn revisited the contenders to determine the final results.
The top spot on the list went to Burnt Bean Co., in Seguin, followed by LeRoy and Lewis Barbecue, in Austin, at number two, and Goldee's Barbecue, in Fort Worth, at number three (Goldee's was the number one joint on the 2021 list).
Rounding out the top ten are:
4. Redbird BBQ, in Port Neches
5. GW's BBQ, in San Juan
6. InterStellar BBQ, in Austin
7. Dayne's Craft Barbecue, in Aledo
