HOUSTON, TX / ACCESS Newswire / May 29, 2025 / The See Life Better Foundation, founded by Dr. Michael Mann, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring vision for individuals who cannot afford the care they need. Whether through international mission trips to underserved countries or providing sight-restoring surgeries at Mann Eye Institute in Texas, their belief is simple: everyone deserves the right to sight, regardless of financial standing.
This past weekend, the See Life Better Foundation hosted its inaugural fundraiser, Saddle Up for Sight, at the Armadillo Palace in Houston, Texas. It was an unforgettable evening filled with laughter, dancing, and live music from Houston's famous The Guzzlers.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of the community through silent auction contributions, donations, and event attendance, they are thrilled to announce that they raised over $20,000 to help bring sight-restoring care to those in need.
The See Life Better Foundation was established by Dr. Michael Mann, whose four-decade career in ophthalmology has been marked by medical innovation and community service. As founder of Mann Eye Institute, which has grown from a single practice in 1977 to 16 locations across Houston and Austin, Dr. Mann has personally performed over 40,000 LASIK procedures and 50,000 cataract surgeries.
The doctors at Mann Eye Institute recognized a growing gap between what working Americans could afford through insurance and savings versus the cost of necessary vision care services. This led to the creation of the See Life Better Foundation, which assists hardworking individuals in bridging this financial gap.
Since the start of 2024, the foundation has provided approximately $8,000 in financial assistance to help 10 patients see life better. The foundation's comprehensive application process ensures assistance reaches those who need it most, with a thorough review of medical documentation and financial need assessment.
Beyond local assistance, the See Life Better Foundation supports international mission trips that bring sight-restoring care to underserved populations worldwide. Dr. Mann has been a longtime member of Benevolent Mission International, performing cataract surgeries and eye exams in third-world countries.
The foundation funds technical support for these missions at approximately $900 per trip, significantly increasing the number of patients that can be served. These mission trips provide essential screenings, treatments, and surgeries to individuals who would otherwise go without care, restoring not only vision but also hope and independence.
The success of Saddle Up for Sight marks just the beginning of the foundation's fundraising efforts. The foundation embodies the same culture of giving back that has characterized Dr. Mann's entire career through his involvement with organizations like the Rotary Club of Humble, Barbara Bush Literacy Foundation, and Prevent Blindness Texas programs.
As they look ahead, the See Life Better Foundation remains deeply committed to its mission. They invite you to join by visiting seelifebetterfoundation.org to learn more about their work, explore stories from past mission trips and previous patients, and find out how you can be part of helping others See Life Better.
