Apollo Endosurgery Appoints John Barr to Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of Apollo Endosurgery, Inc. (“Apollo”) (Nasdaq:APEN), a leader in less invasive medical devices for bariatric and gastrointestinal procedures, today announced that John Barr has been appointed to Apollo’s Board of Directors as an independent director, effective immediately. Mr. Barr will join 9 other directors, a majority of whom are independent under the rules and regulations of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, and will serve as a member of the Audit and Nominating and Governance Committees.

Mr. Barr began his current role as an operating partner with Altamont Capital Partners in January of 2018. He previously served as CEO and a member of the Board of Surgical Specialties Corporation from 2014 through 2017 and, prior to that, held a number of CEO and Executive leadership positions during a career spanning more than 35 years, in healthcare. Mr. Barr holds a masters degree in finance, accounting, and economics from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management-Northwestern University, and an undergraduate degree in bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
