Marquis Who's Who Honors James Robert Zeeb For Expertise in Farmland and Conservation Management

UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / May 6, 2025 / Marquis Who's Who honors James Robert Zeeb for his expertise in farmland and conservation management. Mr. Zeeb is the owner and manager of Production Horizons LLC.

About James Zeeb

Mr. Zeeb's family originally emigrated from Germany in the 1870s and established a farm in Illinois. His family has been in the farming business for six generations and his farming successes are a continuation of that legacy.

Conservation is very important to Mr. Zeeb and the farmland he manages. He opted to embark on a career in farming instead of pursuing an academic career, despite receiving a scholarship. He was later joined by his wife, who left her teaching career to work on the operational aspects of the farm.

Mr. Zeeb attributes his success in a challenging industry to his parents and grandparents, who instilled in him the values of hard work, education and love for family. The work he has done throughout his lifetime has been an inspiration to his children and grandchildren, who are successful in their own right. He is proud of his accomplishments and those of the next generations of his family line.

A Commitment to Farming

Mr. Zeeb considers himself a caretaker of the farmland he has tended to his entire life and plans to pass it down to future generations, should they choose to take on his role. Throughout the difficulties of the years, including the farming crisis of 1984, he has worked tirelessly to preserve his family's land.

One significant achievement of Mr. Zeeb's career was the transformation of part of the family farm into a green housing development. The Lake Raymond Estates and the Meadows include walking trails, woods, ponds and lakes and were specifically designed to be environmentally friendly.

"It's an environmental masterpiece," Mr. Zeeb says, noting that he has personally planted over 1,000 trees on the property. "One thing that we've been successful in doing is improving the farmland with the numerous conservation structures. We've spent a lot of money on improvements in the last seven or eight years."

The conservation structures have resulted in cutting erosion on the farm by 90%, according to Mr. Zeeb. He is currently working with his team on a prescription fertilizer application to spoon-feed nutrients to the crops. This is all part of his venture to cut down on the carbon footprint of the farm. Data collection has also been essential in the conservation effort. There was so much data acquired on the land that artificial intelligence was needed to analyze and interpret the information.

"In everything we do and just about every endeavor in the U.S. right now is sustainability," Mr. Zeeb says. "That's why we are striving for data collection to prove climate-smart farming so that we can qualify our farm to sell grain to be refined into sustainable aviation fuel."

An Advocate for Farmers Everywhere

Additionally, Mr. Zeeb has been heavily involved in farm politics. He took part in Willie Nelson's Farm Aid and was a part of numerous national press conferences in the 1980s, telling the farmers' story of the economic challenges of that era. He has long been an advocate for farmers and is concerned about the impact the government can have on the farming community.

Mr. Zeeb's personal quest is to "set an example in what we do and leave behind a legacy of hard work, commitment and getting better every day." He is dedicated to improving himself every year and putting every bit of his energy and capital into the land to make it better.

James Zeeb was presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award in 2024 by Marquis Who's Who for his accomplishments.
