Finding Paths Forward From Disillusion
Mr. Dorian grew up in an unstable environment, which drove him to seek out psychedelics at a young age. He relied on these as he pursued a Doctor of Philosophy in mathematics, attempting to follow in his father's footsteps as a math professor. When his father passed away, he faced his first significant mental health challenge and became disillusioned with his current path.
Despite grappling with struggles including anxiety, depression and panic disorder, Mr. Dorian persevered and found meaning through the use of psychedelics. With a fresh new sense of direction, he obtained a bachelor's degree from California State University, San Bernardino and a master's degree in mathematics from the University of California, Riverside.
Tragedy Leads to Founding Psychedelist
Tragically, Mr. Dorian then lost his girlfriend of more than six years. Coupled with his father's passing, this event marked a significant turning point in his life. He took up surfing, martial arts and explored the therapeutic benefits of psychedelics. As a result, he developed skills for mental, emotional and spiritual healing. Based on these, he found that he was able to help people suffering from PTSD in his area and that he wanted to do more.
By 2021, Mr. Dorian had founded Psychedelist, which he describes as a "comprehensive directory that promotes the development of health skills without focusing solely on substances." Through his company, he provides resources including treatment options, product listings, information on psychedelics, legal advice and lab testing. He believes that these resources provide the tools and skills necessary for personal growth.
Civic Involvement
In addition to his professional work, Mr. Dorian is involved in civic organizations, including fundraising for the Heroic Hearts Project. Likewise, Psychedelist has partnered with Clinika Research and the Canna Research Foundation. Mr. Dorian's involvement in these groups reflects an attitude toward community engagement, which contributes to further benefiting the lives of others.
Outside of his role at Psychedelist, Mr. Dorian is also a published author. His 2024 handbook, "The 8 Root Fundamentals of Becoming a Psychedelic Guide (Mental, Emotional and Spiritual Foundations for a Peaceful Rewarding Life)," outlines practical exercises and safety precautions to help guide others through a psychedelic experience. In doing so, he aims to reveal paths to personal healing and growth.
A Vision for the Future
In the next five to 10 years, Mr. Dorian plans to complete and publish another piece, currently titled "Lost in the Puddle." In addition to this, he also hopes to grow his company and hire more staff to expand the scope of his work. By communicating practical ways to benefit from psychedelic experience and work toward growth as a result, Mr. Dorian is elevating the world of psychedelic therapy to improve the lives of those around him.
