KUALA LUMPUR, MY / ACCESS Newswire / June 18, 2025 / A significant leap forward in agricultural technology is underway as Farmsent, DroneDash, and SkyX join forces to implement a state-of-the-art smart agritech network throughout palm plantations in Malaysia, initially across 2,000 hectares before expanding further. This dynamic partnership will deploy an intelligent ecosystem including drones and advanced sensor networks, which is projected to reduce water, pesticide, and fertilizer usage by up to 50%, significantly cutting the associated costs.
For decades, palm estates have relied on laborious manual processes for crucial tasks like monitoring and fertilization, often leading to inefficiencies and wasted resources. This collaboration changes the game by granting farmers quality data from Farmsent's soil sensors and leveraging DroneDash's access to drones and real-world agriculture customers to deliver agrochemicals with precision and efficiency. Farmers will gain unprecedented access to real-time soil health insights, enhanced by hyper-local weather data from SkyX, all within the intuitive Farmsent superapp. This integration empowers them to make data-driven decisions, optimizing their use of fertilizers and streamlining drone operations.
As part of the ambitious project, Farmsent is pioneering a novel approach by tokenizing the NPK (nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K)) sensors deployed on the site. These sensors enable timely and informed fertilization strategies, ensuring the precise application of the right nutrients at the optimal time and in the exact location needed. While the initial stage will focus on deploying and testing the network, the tokens representing the sensors will eventually be put on offer for the global Web3 community. This allows individuals worldwide to participate in the agricultural economy, earning rewards as sensor contributors.
Sim Khela, Co-Founder of Farmsent, explained: "Agritech in Southeast Asia stands as one of the ripest frontiers for deploying technologies like DePIN and tokenization, unlocking global investment while uplifting the very humans who feed the world - literally."
Each sensor will receive a unique digital identity (peaq ID), with its record permanently secured on peaq. peaq is the layer-1 blockchain that underpins the Machine Economy, supporting a growing network of real-world Web3 applications known as Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks (DePINs), and the millions of devices that operate within this ecosystem.
The solution will be further strengthened by the integration of high-resolution hyperlocal weather data from SkyX's advanced weather stations. These stations will collect hyperlocal weather data, including such parameters as temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind direction, wind speed, and air pressure. The devices will also snap pictures of the sky for image recognition modeling, sharing the data and insights with the local farms through edge computing. The weather stations will be tokenized and put on offer for the global Web3 community, and the weather data they collect will be used for commercial purposes, including analytics and forecasting solutions. The early stage of the project will see 2 stations deployed on the site, to be expanded to 200 farms in the area.
Frank, CEO of SkyX, highlighted: "Accurate, high quality hyperlocal weather data is fundamental for the future of agriculture, and our SkyX sensors provide critical insights. We are excited to partner with Dronedash and Farmsent to showcase the transformative power of our data and data services. Furthermore, we are committed to ensuring reliable data transmission from even the most remote locations by enhancing our weather station technology."
DroneDash is creating a first of its kind decentralised deployment platform that bridges the real-world business opportunities in agriculture and Web3 agriculture technology companies. This platform allows for innovative Web3 projects like Farmsent and SkyX to find traction and customers in an agriculture technology industry worth over $25 billion. Using DroneDash's network of farm owners and deployment partners in the Southeast Asia region, DroneDash is matching the real pain points faced by farmers to solutions offered by Farmsent and SkyX.
Paul, Founder and CEO of DroneDash, stated, "Farm owners can be one of the hardest to convince and with DroneDash acting as the bridge, useful agriculture Web3 solutions can find their way into the Southeast Asia region, a key market with immense potential for innovation."
