Bellevue University has launched a Master of Arts in Sport Management degree through its College of Arts and Sciences.
The program focuses on areas such as sport marketing, business strategy, data analytics, and legal and risk management. A required internship allows students to gain experience and build a network before graduation.
“We’re not just teaching sports—we’re teaching leadership, decision-making, and business strategy,” said Dr. Brenda Mechels, Program Director. “Our students graduate ready to make a difference in the sports world.”
Graduates will be prepared for roles in athletic departments, sport marketing and management agencies, youth and community sport programs, nonprofit organizations, and sport media and retail companies.
Students will also study sales and branding strategies, leadership and crisis management, global sport operations, community involvement, and legal topics such as contracts and liability. The program includes training in data and analytics to support planning and decision-making in sport organizations.
As the sport industry continues to change due to globalization, digital tools, and data use, the new program supports the demand for professionals in sport management.
