Celebrated in April each year, National Donate Life Month is an entire month of local, regional, and national activities to help encourage Americans to register as organ donors and to celebrate those that have saved lives through the gift of organ donation. Jay Leno and Andy Hartmann are doing their part to save the lives of people needing organ transplants through MatchingDonors.com.
As he increases the number of cars in his 100,000 Sq ft Big Dog Garage that houses one of America's great collections of cars and motorcycles, Jay Leno has also been increasing the number of lives he has helped save through his philanthropy with MatchingDonors.com – America’s online living organ donor - matching website.

In addition to his ongoing support for MatchingDonors.com, Jay Leno generously offered a private 2-hour tour of his Big Dog garage, which was to be sold or auctioned off with all proceeds benefiting MatchingDonors.com. Andy Hartmann, a retired entrepreneur and philanthropist from New Hampshire, and longtime financial supporter of the organization, reached out to Paul Dooley, the CEO and founder of MatchingDonors.com, about a $675,000 building he was contemplating selling or donating. Knowing Andy was a lifetime fan of Jay Leno, Paul suggested, "If you are considering donating the building, I might be able to arrange a private tour of Jay Leno’s garage." Andy immediately responded, "That sounds like a once in a lifetime offer, it’s a deal." Paul then contacted Jay, who enthusiastically agreed, saying, "What a fantastic gesture by Andy to donate that property to MatchingDonors. We’ll make sure he and his friends have an unforgettable experience when they come for the tour."
Andy said “I previously donated a property to MatchingDonors.com, and I’m happy to donate again. It’s a powerful way for me to make a lasting impact on individuals in need of life-saving organ transplants. The nonprofit organization connects donors with transplant candidates, and it’s using donated properties to directly support those waiting for a second chance at life. By donating my properties, I’m contributing to a wonderful cause that saves lives. Also, I’m helping to raise awareness about alternatives to the long wait for vital organ transplants. Paul and the staff at MatchingDonors.com provided a seamless process, making it easy to turn my properties into gifts of hope and opportunity for people in urgent need.”
Paul Dooley said “That's an incredible gesture by both Jay Leno and Andy Hartmann! I’ve known Jay for many years and Andy for only a few years and it’s always amazing to see them using their platforms to support MatchingDonors.com’s life-saving cause. We are very appreciative of both Andy and Jay. April National Donate Life Month is a time to raise awareness about organ donation, and their generous donations are outstanding examples of how people can get involved in making a difference. Our ongoing success is a testament to Jay’s and Andy’s dedication to transforming lives and expanding access to life-saving organ transplants.”
Since launching in 2004 MatchingDonors.com, the award winning 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has helped over 10,000 of their registered patients needing organ transplants and over 15,000 registered living altruistic organ donors willing to donate an organ to a patient on MatchingDonors.com. MatchingDonors.com is based outside of Boston; not too far from where Jay grew up, and where Andy resides. MatchingDonors.com has become the most successful nonprofit organization that is finding living altruistic organ donors for patients needing lifesaving organ transplants.
As of April 14, 2025, every day in the United States 15 people die many waiting 7-15 years on the government's invitee-only national organ transplant waiting list for a deceased organ transplant that may never come while at least an additional 250 people die every day needing an organ transplant that were not allowed on the government’s list because they were too poor, too old or too sick to be considered a “good candidate for a transplant.” A new patient’s name is added to this national organ transplant waiting list every 8 minutes. 86% of patients waiting are in need of a kidney.
The team at MatchingDonors.com is working hard to make sure that does not happen by finding altruistic living organ donors for people needing kidney and other transplants, and realtors Tony Raizes and Fred Attalla of Point East Properties in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, have been an invaluable asset to MatchingDonors.com. Their unwavering support throughout the entire process of property donations and sales has played a crucial role in helping patients secure lifesaving transplants.
MatchingDonors.com is not an invitee-only list; everyone needing an organ transplant is allowed on our list regardless of whether they are poor, old or sick. As long as a patient is registered at a transplant hospital in the United States willing to perform the transplant operation, everyone is considered a “good candidate for a transplant” with MatchingDonors.com.
MatchingDonors.com has become the highly successful nonprofit, award-winning organization that is improving those odds by finding living, altruistic organ donors for patients needing organ transplants.
Many patients find their living altruistic donor organ and get their lifesaving organ transplant within six months of joining MatchingDonors.com.
