Oklahoma City, OK, USA - July 15, 2025 - Author Donna S. Sims, a 26-year Army Veteran, proudly announces the release of her captivating new children's book, "The Magic of the Old Oak Tree". Published by Author Donna S. Sims, this heartwarming work of fiction invites readers into a world where imagination transforms reality, offering solace and wonder to young minds facing life's challenges.

The book originated from creative bedtime stories Donna told her sons, Rodger and Jacob, when they were in kindergarten. These stories became particularly important during a lengthy deployment and "stay back orders" that kept their father away, making settling into new places more difficult for the boys. By using her sons' names as the main characters, Donna aimed to empower them and help them "turn things around," allowing them to embark on long adventures, have amazing times, and return home exhausted and ready for bed. The boys loved hearing these stories repeatedly, with Jacob often asking for a new one every night. Rodger eventually suggested, "Mom you should put these stories in a book," a sentiment Jacob echoed, suggesting "Yeah, ten chapters!". This book is a fulfillment of that promise.

At the heart of the narrative lies an old oak tree that is truly magic. This special tree brings to life "everything the boys could ever imagine". The key to unlocking its power is a song learned from the tree's keeper, Mr. Stimer: "Whatever you think it is to be, it's the magic of the old oak tree". Rodger and Jacob discover that Mr. Stimer, who they later realize is their Granddad, lives inside the tree with little Angel Children called Quibbling's, who are sent by God to make magic all over the world. The Quibbling's help the boys' vivid imaginations come to life, from a basketball goal Rodger imagines to Jacob's drum set.

Through their adventures, the boys experience incredible feats, such as generating star cookies with a magical cooking pot, healing Jacob with an imagined healing bed when he falls ill, delivering cakes swiftly using super racing cars that can fly invisibly, and swimming thousands of miles underwater to China to see their dad on a day that would last forever. However, the story also subtly imparts valuable lessons, teaching the boys about the cause and effect of their imaginations when their wish for eternal daytime in America causes endless night elsewhere, making other children sad. Their Grandma, Mrs. Stimer (who is also their Grandmom and a keeper of the tree), helps them understand that "the magic is not just in the old oak tree. It's in you," emphasizing that true magic stems from good hearts and belief.

Donna S. Sims's personal background deeply informs the book's themes. As a 26-year Army Veteran who traveled extensively with her family for multiple assignments around the world, she understood the challenges her children faced with frequent moves and parental deployments to countries like Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait. These creative bedtime stories served as a means to help her children "believe in themselves, have faith in God and sleep well" during times they missed their parents.

"The Magic of the Old Oak Tree" is a testament to the power of imagination, the strength of family bonds, and the importance of kindness and responsibility. It is available in multiple formats:
