Only Central States Region Super Cups Winner To Sweep A Night Of Racing This Season
PARK RIDGE, Ill. - Aug. 29, 2016 - PRLog -- Zachary Tinkle rallied from mechanical failures that plagued him the two previous races with the Central States Super Cups to make a clean sweep at Grundy County Speedway on Friday, August 26th. Two races prior, the chain came off of his car when he was running in second place at Madison International Speedway, putting him at a last place finish. The last race was at Grundy County Speedway where his engine blew just before the green flag drop, ruining his championship hopes.

Tinkle Family Racing showed up to Grundy County Speedway with a backup motor and hopes that Zachary would be able to do well and at least stay in the race. Much to his delight, he was fastest in practice. He eagerly went out to qualify first and had the time that was not beat by any of the remaining racers. Because he was the fastest qualifier, he had the honor of carrying the American flag alongside other fastest qualifiers while the National Anthem was sung.

In the heat race, Tinkle was put in last position as a result of the invert. He came up through the field, battling a couple other drivers along the way, to take the lead and win the race.

The league barely got its feature race in with the threat of thunderstorms on the way. The mini cup cars were quickly ushered on the track. Tinkle was in the sixth position in the race as a result of the invert. Immediately after the green flag, Tinkle popped out of line to take the field three wide, passing all of the cars ahead of him at the beginning of his second lap. He led every one of the remaining laps of the race with a wide lead, taking the checkered flag. Because of his excitement and wanting to get to his crew chief to say 'Thank you' for such a great car, he even forgot to stop to get his photo taken in victory lane. This proved to be a blessing because, as soon as the top five finishers in the race lined up for technical inspections, the skies opened up with a downpour.
