Once the app is downloaded, the user can sign up in minutes and begin uploading their purchase receipts for storage on their phone. Wevat then processes the receipts and issues a barcode which the user taps at allocated, well-marked departure points. The app eliminates document filing hassles and users are not required to visit the VAT refund counter to register their claims.
Refunds are available in 50 currencies and users can choose whether to have their refunds deposited into their bank account, or put toward Alipay, WeChat Pay or a credit card. Users can also track their refund progress using the app’s tracker feature.
