Industry veteran joins TP-Link to further strengthen cybersecurity initiatives
TP-Link Systems Inc., a global leader in networking and smart home solutions, today announced the appointment of Adam Robertson as its new director of information and security.
With 17 years of cybersecurity experience, including eight years in senior leadership roles, Adam brings a wealth of expertise and a proven track record of enhancing organizational security postures. His appointment underscores TP-Link’s ongoing commitment to cybersecurity and to strengthening the company’s leadership in product security.
From his early career as a security operations center analyst to his recent role presenting strategic cybersecurity initiatives at the board of directors level, Robertson brings a unique combination of hands-on expertise and executive leadership to TP-Link. In his previous roles, he served as senior director of information security at Reliance, Inc. Prior to that, he served as vice president of information security and technology at Incipio Group. Adam’s deep understanding of cybersecurity challenges and solutions, coupled with his ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable strategies, positions him as a transformative leader in the field.
“Adam’s track record of implementing robust security frameworks, combined with his strategic mindset, makes him an ideal fit for TP-Link as we advance our product portfolio,” said Jeff Barney, president of TP-Link Systems Inc. “His extensive leadership experience and technical acumen will be instrumental as we continue to strengthen our security infrastructure and maintain our position as an industry leader in networking and smart home solutions. We are thrilled to welcome him to the team.”
Robertson’s appointment as director of information and security comes at a pivotal time, as TP-Link is now fully aligned with the U.S. government’s efforts to strengthen national digital infrastructure. The company is a proud signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) “Secure by Design” pledge and actively participates in CISA’s Secure by Design Technical Exchange Group. The company also maintains a proactive vulnerability disclosure program, inviting independent researchers and the security community to report potential issues.
Based at the company’s global headquarters in Irvine, CA, Robertson will oversee security for TP-Link’s consumer and enterprise networking and home automation products. His leadership will help shape the company’s security culture and accelerate innovation in cybersecurity.
“Security is the foundation of trust in today’s connected world, and I am committed to fostering a culture of security excellence at TP-Link,” said Robertson. “I’m excited to lead initiatives that will enhance our security capabilities and I look forward to working with the team to implement forward-thinking security strategies that protect our users and our products.”
Additionally, in Q1 2025, TP-Link will sponsor a bug bounty program hosted by a prominent platform, further demonstrating its commitment to identifying and addressing vulnerabilities. Moreover, TP-Link supports the Cyber Trust Mark program administered by UL Solutions, and plans to seek certification for its products.
