Andersen announces the addition of Randolph Smith and Douglas Wood as managing directors in the firm’s Commercial practice. They will play a key role in expanding Andersen’s presence and delivering seamless service to businesses and individuals in the rapidly growing Carolinas market.
Randolph Smith joins Andersen with over 35 years of experience as a tax advisor helping businesses and their owners with federal, state, and local tax planning. He has served public and private companies across the U.S., focusing on privately-owned companies, pass-through entities, and high-net-worth families and individuals. Throughout his career, Randolph has developed a deep understanding of flow-through taxation, tax accounting methods, credits, and structuring matters, positioning him to play a pivotal role in driving the strategic direction and growth of Andersen’s practice in the Carolinas. Prior to joining Andersen, he was the national managing partner of the Transportation and Logistics practice for the U.S. at Grant Thornton and was previously a partner at Arthur Andersen serving as the leader of the Carolinas tax practice. His expertise will be particularly valuable in supporting clients within the transportation & logistics and manufacturing industries.
Douglas Wood specializes in helping businesses and individuals throughout the U.S. navigate increasingly complex global tax and transfer pricing matters. He has over 30 years of experience serving both public and private clients in settings ranging from alternative investments and private equity to owner operators and complex corporate matters. Prior to joining Andersen, he served as the national managing principal for Grant Thornton’s combined International Tax Services and Transfer Pricing practice and was a member of Grant Thornton International’s Global Transfer Pricing leadership team. Doug’s experience will drive the firm’s growth through the delivery of exceptional, cross-border client service, further strengthening Andersen’s ability to serve businesses in the Carolinas’ dynamic economic landscape.
“Both Randolph and Doug are well-known within our Andersen family,” said Dan DePaoli, U.S. country managing director for Andersen. “Doug has a proven track record in client service and technical excellence. For Randolph, this is truly a ‘homecoming’ as he was a leading partner in the domestic business tax practice at Arthur Andersen. Their deep expertise, strong leadership skills, and shared vision for expanding our presence in Charlotte will be instrumental in achieving our regional strategic objectives.”
