GAMIVO Reveals Ways To Save on Video Games

By: Get News
Video games are incredibly popular, but their prices are constantly growing, forcing gamers to reach deeper into their pockets. Fortunately, there are some ways to save even on the latest titles. GAMIVO has published tips on how to buy video games cheaply.

Free games can be fun

More and more PC games cost almost 80 dollars on the premiere day, while the console releases are even 10 dollars more expensive. And those are only standard editions, which don’t include any additional content, DLCs, or season passes. This makes buying the latest releases a considerable expense. However, there are some ways to pay less even for the hottest titles.

Before talking about savings on new releases, it’s worth mentioning that players don’t need to spend a dime to travel to virtual worlds because there’s a long list of popular video games that are available for free.

“Fortnite, The Sims 4, Genshin Impact, and Roblox are only a few of many fantastic titles that use a free-to-play model. However, free titles usually feature microtransactions; hence, there are optional payments for adding new content or boosting progress,” remarks Pawel Zemka, CRO at GAMIVO, a platform specialized in selling discounted video games.

Another way to get free games is through giveaways. For example, Epic allows players to get new free games every week. Also, GAMIVO organizes a weekly giveaway that allows participants to win the latest releases and GAMIVO gift cards that they can use to buy any products on the platform.

Patience is a profitable virtue

Of course, most players dream of the latest games. Pre-ordering them has its advantages. For instance, it lets players be among the first to discover the secrets of a brand-new title. It’s also probably the best way to avoid spoilers. Unluckily, it’s usually the most expensive way to get the game, too. Some publishers offer pre-order discounts or in-game bonuses; hence, the worst time, at least for players’ wallets, to buy games is immediately after the premiere, when the bonuses don’t apply anymore, and prices are the highest.

“Spoilers can be incredibly annoying, particularly when it comes to story-driven games. However, overwhelming the FOMO effect can be very profitable, because the simplest way to save on video games is to wait for a sale. Even the biggest hits are discounted for the first time after about three months after the premiere. Hence, a little patience can help save a considerable amount. All video game stores and platforms, including Steam, PlayStation Store, Epic, EA App, GAMIVO, and GOG, offer periodic sales. The best time to hunt for deals is the summer, when there is a limited number of new releases. Also, winter, particularly the time around Christmas, is traditionally brimming with attractive sales, advises Pawel Zemka.

Another trick that helps avoid unnecessary spending is to ask oneself if the game will be played immediately. Most avid gamers have an extensive collection of games that they have never installed or played. Being a bit picky, even during sales, should stop that pile of shame from growing further.

“All gamers feel the urge to reach into their virtual wallets when they see a sequel in their favorite series or a new title from a studio they like. It’s worth taking a while to determine where the game will be placed on the to-play list before the purchase. There’s no point in buying a game that will wait for its turn for months. Furthermore, by this time, it will likely receive numerous updates, and its price will decrease,” according to Pawel Zemka.

Quality over quantity

Players who try to limit their spending on video games may also try a different approach to game selection and get titles that guarantee countless evenings filled with exciting adventures. For instance, in role-playing games, such as The Witcher 3, Fallout 4, or Baldur’s Gate 3, gamers can spend over 200 hours before reaching the end.

Players who are not fans of RPGs can consider choice-driven adventure games that provide great replayability value or multiplayer games, indicates the GAMIVO representative.

There’s also a way to save on video games without limiting the number of games bought. Independent games are significantly cheaper than AAA titles, but they can provide an incredible experience. For instance, on GAMIVO, customers can find dozens of outstanding indie titles of virtually all video game genres.

Know where to look

Last but not least, players can try alternative sources of video games. Such platforms as GAMIVO gather offers from multiple suppliers. As a result, gamers can buy or pre-order their desired titles considerably below the official price.

“Currently, GAMIVO offers over 200 thousand different products, mostly video games for all the major platforms. Some of them are sold at an even 80-90% discount on a daily basis, without any special sale or unique discount code. Hence, it’s a perfect place for gamers who want to play the latest releases without spending a fortune,” explains Pawel Zemka.
