October 19, 2021 /3BL Media/ - Deckers Brands recently held its third Art of Kindness (AOK) week of volunteering where employees united to make a collective impact on their local communities. Overall, for the week of September 27 through October 1, 2021, Deckers employees logged a total of over 4,300 hours at 317 global organizations and exceeded the prior AOK’s record in April 2021 of 3,800 hours by 13%. While the hours logged are substantial, the stories of impact are even more meaningful.

“Art of Kindness is one of the ways we express Deckers’ goal to better our planet and communities through encouraging employees to give their time,” says Dave Powers, CEO and President of Deckers Brands. “The event includes both virtual and in person opportunities for employees around the globe, and many have shared that they felt inspired and encouraged by the chance to come together and do good. Deckers is committed long-term to strengthening the communities in which we do business.”

Deckers’ employee volunteer program runs year-round—many employees volunteer individually throughout the year. But AOK is the week where they concentrate their efforts as a team. Over the past 18 months and during the COVID-19 pandemic, Deckers reimagined the ways employees could continue to volunteer together as a team while providing flexibility to do so on their own time. Virtual service opportunities proved effective in a pandemic environment where employees have a range of limitations, based on region and life circumstances. AOK has broadened the way Deckers volunteers by offering employees both in person and virtual opportunities.

The vision for this AOK extended beyond Deckers, and a number of other companies and organizations joined in the week of volunteering. In addition, vendors, suppliers and factory workers volunteered alongside our employees as well. These invited participants led to over 3,500 hours of additional impact outside of Deckers’ employee’s efforts.

“Doing good while doing great remains close to our employees’ hearts and one of our core values. Art of Kindness has connected employees to each other, fostered more pride in our company, brought them closer to our culture and engaged them with their local communities,” says Michelle Apodaca, Director, Deckers Gives. “The power of AOK reaches beyond Deckers.”
